The Saratoga Springs City School District has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications for a Licensed Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities: The School Nurse provides health services for students, acts as advocate, liaison and consultant on health issues 

Job Duties Include:  

  • Providing and documenting professional nursing services in accordance with Nursing Standards and NYS licensing 
  • Identifying and assessing student health needs, implementing services and evaluating plans of care  
  • Contributing to the development of school health policies, including health office organization, training for faculty and staff, and other areas as needed 
  • Collaborating with faculty around field trips, to include preparation of first aid bags and preparing health alerts 
  • A working knowledge of pharmacology, nutrition, sanitation, and personal hygiene. 
  • Ability to understand and follow technical, oral and written instructions. 
  • Administering and securing all prescribed medications with signed consent of parent and doctor. 
  • Providing state mandated vision hearing and scoliosis screening 
  • Obtain, review and record mandated immunization and physical reports 
  • Act as liaison between home, school and community providers for medical issues 
  • Orders, inventories and oversees storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment 
  • Complete student and staff accident/insurance reports 
  • Compile and complete NYSDOH immunization survey and BMI surveys 
  • Follow and execute school policies and procedures

Candidates Expectations: 

  • Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals within each student’s IEP 
  • Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques 
  • Utilizes various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals 
  • Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students 
  • Creates a positive learning experience with an emphasis in individualized instruction  
  • Provides direction to educational Teaching Assistants  
  • Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect  
  • Collaborates and consults with educational professionals regarding the needs of students;
