The Saratoga Springs City School District is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to support an 8:1:2 special class within the Strategies Program. This program is designed for students with social-emotional and behavioral needs who require a structured, supportive, and therapeutic learning environment. The teacher will provide individualized, research-based instruction and implement behavioral and social-emotional supports to ensure students can successfully access the curriculum and develop skills for independence.
Instruction & IEP Implementation
- Provide research-based specialized instruction aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
- Develop, implement, and monitor annual IEPs
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and methods to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional approaches as needed
Classroom Environment & Behavioral Supports
- Establish a structured, predictable classroom environment that supports students with social-emotional needs
- Implement consistent classroom systems, routines, and behavioral supports
- Foster a positive learning environment emphasizing respect, responsibility, and student engagement
- Support the development of students’ social-emotional and self-regulation skills
Collaboration & Leadership
- Lead and coordinate classroom educational paraprofessionals
- Collaborate with related service providers, general education staff, and families
- Participate in CSE meetings and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Consult with colleagues to ensure alignment of supports and services across settings
