| Certifications/Qualifications: | NY State Certified in Special Education/Students w/ Disabilities (K-6), Reading certification preferred |
Candidates Expectations:
- Experience teaching/working in an elementary school setting
- Comfortable working with students who struggle with emotional regulation and behavior management
- Strong understanding of behavorial interventions and support
- Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals within each student’s IEP
- Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
- Utilizes various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals
- Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students
- Creates a positive learning experience with an emphasis in individualized instruction
- Provides direction to educational Teaching Assistants
- Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect
- Collaborates and consults with educational professionals regarding the needs of students;
