 New York State Registered Occupational Therapist 

Saratoga Springs City School District is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our dynamic school-based team. The ideal candidate will excel in designing and implementing therapeutic activities, possess a deep understanding of current school-based practices, demonstrate exceptional time management skills and have experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Additionally, the ability to administer and interpret school-based assessments, collaborate effectively with staff and parents, and contribute to Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) initiatives are essential for success in this role.

Therapeutic Activity Development and Implementation:

  • Design and facilitate engaging therapeutic activities and interventions to address students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual perception, and activities of daily living
  • Incorporate evidence-based practices and creative approaches to promote skill development, independence, and participation in educational activities
  • Modify activities and environmental factors to meet individual student needs and promote success in the school setting
  • Stay abreast of current trends, research, and best practices in school-based occupational therapy.

Time Management and Organization:

  • Effectively manage caseload responsibilities, including scheduling assessments, treatment sessions, and consultations, to optimize student outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessment results, progress notes, and intervention plans in compliance with regulatory requirements and school policies
  • Prioritize tasks and allocate resources efficiently to meet deadlines and achieve program goals

Assessment Administration and Interpretation:

  • Administer a variety of school-based assessments to evaluate students' functional abilities, motor skills, sensory processing, and performance in academic and school-related tasks
  • Analyze assessment data to identify areas of strength, areas for improvement, and individualized intervention needs
  • Communicate assessment findings clearly and collaboratively with team members, parents, and relevant stakeholders to inform decision-making and intervention planning

Collaboration with Staff and Parents:

  • Foster positive relationships with school staff, including teachers, special educators, counselors, and support personnel, to promote a collaborative approach to student support
  • Partner with parents and caregivers to understand their concerns, goals, and priorities for their child's development and educational success
  • Provide education, resources, and strategies to support parents in reinforcing therapeutic goals and strategies at home
  • Collaborate with Child Study Teams (CST) to develop and implement tiered interventions, monitor student progress, and adjust strategies as needed to support academic and functional success
  • Contribute expertise and insights to multidisciplinary team discussions, problem-solving efforts, and collaborative decision-making processes
